Woman accused of committing insurance fraud from inside ambulance

  Admin

The Pennsylvania attorney general’s office says a Philadelphia woman tried to commit insurance fraud — from an ambulance — after her vehicle was involved in an accident.

Lauren Bozart, a spokeswoman for the state attorney general, says 23-year-old Regina Whitehead was involved in a four-vehicle accident in October of last year. “What we allege happened is that, in an ambulance on the way to the hospital, Miss Whitehead called her insurance company in order to add comprehensive collision and rental coverage to her auto policy, for her vehicle that had just been involved in that accident,” Bozart explained.

At some point later, Bozart says, Whitehead allegedly reported a claim to her insurance company and lied about the time of the accident. Whitehead has been charged with one count of insurance fraud and one count of criminal attempt to commit theft by deception. She has been released on $10,000 unsecured bail.
