This role serves as ISB’s senior technical executive, accountable for the performance, security, and scalability of our enterprise platforms while driving the evolution of our software development capabilities. The successful candidate will balance hands-on technical leadership with strategic oversight, ensuring our Microsoft-based ecosystem, internal platforms (including oneBADGE), and client-facing integrations remain secure, reliable, and positioned for growth.

This is a highly visible role that combines infrastructure leadership, cybersecurity governance, and software engineering oversight, while also representing ISB in client and partner discussions related to technology, security, and platform capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

Technology, Platforms & Software Development

  • Own the end-to-end health, performance, and scalability of ISB’s technology ecosystem, including infrastructure and internal platforms.
  • Lead and evolve ISB’s Microsoft-first environment (Azure, Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Intune, Power Platform, Business Central).
  • Provide executive oversight of software development and architecture, including internal platforms and client-facing integrations (APIs, automation workflows).
  • Drive the transition to modern, cloud-native, API-first architectures supporting scalable platform delivery.
  • Establish and lead DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and release management processes.
  • Identify and implement automation opportunities to improve operational efficiency and reduce manual processes.
  • Ensure high availability through resilient architecture, monitoring, backup, and disaster recovery strategies.
  • Oversee vendor relationships, technology investments, and IT budget management.

Cybersecurity, Risk & Compliance

  • Own and execute ISB’s enterprise cybersecurity strategy across infrastructure, applications, and data.
  • Lead security operations including identity and access management, endpoint protection, threat detection, and incident response.
  • Ensure security-by-design principles are embedded across infrastructure and software development lifecycles.
  • Maintain and advance ISB’s ISO 27001 and ISO 27701 certifications, including audit readiness and continuous improvement.
  • Lead risk assessments across systems, integrations, and third-party vendors.
  • Establish and enforce security policies, standards, and governance frameworks.
  • Drive organization-wide security awareness and compliance culture.
  • Ensure compliance with privacy regulations (including PIPEDA) and client-specific security requirements.

Client-Facing & Executive Leadership

  • Serve as ISB’s technical authority in client and partner conversations related to platform capability, integrations, and security posture.
  • Support commercial efforts by articulating technical value propositions, architecture, and security differentiation.
  • Represent ISB in security reviews, audits, and RFP processes.
  • Partner with executive leadership to align technology strategy with product roadmap and client demand.
  • Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing technology team across infrastructure, security, and development functions.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate is a hybrid technology leader—equally comfortable in architecture discussions, security governance, and software strategy, with the credibility to lead both internal teams and external client engagements.

Experience & Expertise

  • 10+ years of progressive leadership in IT, software development, and cybersecurity
  • Proven experience leading Microsoft-based enterprise environments (Azure-centric)
  • Strong background in software development oversight, API architecture, and platform scalability
  • Deep knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks, ISO 27001/27701, and privacy compliance
  • Experience with cloud infrastructure, DevOps, and automation technologies
  • Demonstrated ability to lead both infrastructure and engineering teams

Leadership & Attributes

  • Strategic and hands-on—able to operate at both executive and technical levels
  • Strong communicator, capable of translating complex technical concepts into business value
  • Client-focused, with experience supporting enterprise customers, regulators, or regulated industries
  • Proven ability to lead technology transformation and modernization initiatives
  • Highly accountable, with a strong focus on security, reliability, and performance

Why This Role Matters

This role is central to ISB’s continued growth, ensuring our platforms remain secure, scalable, and trusted by clients across regulated industries. The successful candidate will directly influence the evolution of oneBADGE and ISB’s broader platform strategy, helping position the organization as a leader in secure, compliant digital credentialing and screening solutions.
